CHILDREN'S RIGHTS MOVEMENT

The Children's Rights Movement is a historical and modern movement committed to the acknowledgment, expansion, and/or regression of the rights of children around the world. While the historical definition of child has varied, the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child explains, "A child is any human being below the age of eighteen years, unless under the law applicable to the child, majority is attained earlier." There are no definitions of other terms used to describe young people such as "adolescents", "teenagers" or "youth" in international law.

Comparatives and Superlatives

We use Comparatives and Superlatives to compare two or more nouns.

The formation of the comparative and superlative depends on the number of syllables in the adjective:

One-syllable Adjectives

To form the comparative, we add -er to the end of the adjective.
To form the superlative, we add -est to the end of the adjective.

Adjective  Comparative  Superlative

small           smaller          the smallest

cold            colder           the coldest

light             lighter           the lightest

short           shorter          the shortest

Remember that comparatives are often followed by than.

• London is bigger than Santiago.
• Mike is taller than John but James is the tallest.

Two-syllable Adjectives ending in -Y

To form the comparative, we remove the -y and add -ier to the end of the adjective.
To form the superlative, we remove the -y and add -iest to the end of the adjective.

Adjective   Comparative   Superlative
 crazy         crazier         the craziest

happy        happier        the happiest

early           earlier        the earliest

• It was the happiest day of my life.
• My joke was funnier than your one.

Adjectives with Two or more Syllables

For Adjectives with 2 syllables (that don't end in -y) and higher (3, 4 syllables etc), we use more for comparatives and the most for superlatives.

Adjective   Comparative        Superlative

handsome  more handsome   the most handsome

nervous     more nervous       the most nervous

enthusiastic  more enthusiastic the most enthusiastic

• My girlfriend is more beautiful than yours.
• Alex is more intelligent than you but I am the most intelligent.

Irregular Forms

Adjective Comparative Superlative

good      better         the best

bad        worse     the worst

far further / farther the furthest / farthest

• I am a better tennis player than you but Marcelo is the best.
• Steve is a worse liar than me but Adrian is the worst.

Remember that the opposites of 'more' and 'most' are 'less' and 'least', respectively.

FLAMINGO

Flamingos are beautiful and delicate birds. They live in escuarios, wetlands, brackish lagoons and deltas of large rivers. They feed by filtering small items from water with their specialized bills. They have a deep, narrow lower mandible, which allows them to eat small foods such as diatoms.

We can find 6 species of flamingos, all of them are American Flamingo and Andean Flamingo.

American Flamingo lives in North America.

Andean Flamingo lives in the north of Chile.
The American Flamingo is taller than Andean Flamingo, the first is 140 meters high and the second is 110 meters high.
The American weights 4kg. and Andean weight 2,2kg; the first is bigger than the second flamingo.
The American Flamingo has the most of it’s plumage is pink. The wing coverts are red, and the primary and secondary flight feathers are black.
The Andean Flamingo has the most of the plumage is pinkish white. The Andean Flamingo is the only species of flamingo that has yellow legs and feet. Its bill is yellowish as in James's Flamingo, but with a much more extensive black tip.
The Andean Flamingo is at risk of extinction because of hunting, its long breeding cycle, and the low number of breeding sites around the world.

FOR ME THE MOST BEATIFUL OF THESE TWO FLAMINGOS IS THE ANDEAN FLAMINGO.
